Josey - Writespace (19) 2/27/20

This week I went back to Writespace after a couple weeks of not being able to go. When I first got there I started off with looking around online for small presses and publishing companies in Houston. This took some time, but I was trying to find companies that sort of fit the idea of Writespace and had the same sort of works published as people were writing there. So after some digging I found a few places around Austin, Dallas and some other cities and added them to my google sheet. Next I went into eventbrite and set up the emails to attendees for the workshops. These are importat becuase they remind people this event is upcoming and also give them an idea of what to expect from this workshop. To finish up my time at workshop I added some new events to google calendar, which I have done before but is a pretty straightforward task in organization. That was all the time I had but I feel like I was able to get a decent amount done and make some good contributions in all of the tasks th...

Josey - 6ft (9) 2/26/20

This week I went back to 6ft press and even though it had only been a week it felt like I had been away for longer. I did a sort of continuation of the same work I had been doing with the continuation of the grammaropilis sentence writing. This week I was tasked with working on adjectives. I was actually pretty excited because adjectives are straightforward and I thought this would be pretty simple to get through. I was again writing second and third grade level sentences which are still pretty short, but can also be difficult to come up with ideas involving the concept and still fitting it into the small amount of space. I was able to get through all of these with a little time left so I started working on the adverbs. This was much more challenging for me because adverbs are somewhat complicated, or can at least be difficult to identify. I did start to get the hang of it eventually and got threw a few pages of the adverbs before I had to leave. This does seem like important work to g...

Josey - 6ft (8) 2/19/20

This week I went back to 6ft press and did a sort of continuation of what I did last time I was here. I continued to write 2nd and 3rd grade sentences, but instead of doing it for the nouns, this time I did it for the verbs. The whole time I was thinking to myself maybe I should be doing these worksheets because there were a few times when I got a little confused. This was especially in the difference between and action and a linking verb that are actually the same word. Eventually I figured it out, but it did take me a while to find out which was which. Even though it can be hard to come up with sentences sometime, I do really enjoy doing this because I know exactly how my work is going to be used and it seems ver important. It also gives me an idea of how much work it actually takes to put into a workbook like this that can seem so simply. It can be hard to come up with new names that you haven't already used, or new ideas for your sentences, or new verbs that fit the situation. ...

Josey - Writespace (18) 2/6/20

This week I went back to Writespace and started by updating a few things in Eventbrite. Something with the workshop ticket pricing had been off so I needed to fix this for a few of the workshops. This did ot take me too long and afterwards I moved on to the task that would take me the rest of my time there. This was also a job that needed to be done in Eventbrite but this was actually making new events to add onthe website. I have done this before a few weeks ago and so after I quick refresher I got back into the rhythm of it. I went through quite a few workshops including all of April, May and some of June. This taks is not very complicated but it takes paying attention to details to make sure you get all the dates right, the time right and the ciket pricing. Since there are lots of workshops to go through this took me the rest of the time I had at Writespace, but I was able to get some practice in using Eventbrite. Although it wasn't my most eventful time at Writespace I feel lik...

Josey - 6ft (7) 2/5/20

This week I went back to 6ft press and got started by writing some sentences for books. These books teach grammer to kids from 1st to 5th grade on all parts of speech. This includes verbs, nouns, adjectives, and a few others. Today I started out with the nouns so I would take a sheet and write sentences using nouns for the 2nd grade level. This took a while to come up with sentences but I feel like it was good becasue I know that these sentences are actually going to be published and used in these books. Although this did put a little mor epressure on me to write these sentences better it still made it feel important to me. I was able to get through all of the 2nd and 3rd grade for nouns, which doesn't seem like a lot but it was seven pages so probably around one hundred sentences that I wrote. It made me feel pretty important and I enjoyed doing it today. I am excited to go back and to keep writing these sentences because I feel like I am beinghelpful and making a difference when ...
