Josey - Internship Blog (7) 4/25/19
I went back to my internship after two weeks of absence due to the Arts Festival and Easter holiday. I started by doing some research on people who are going to be at Writefest to find a picture of them and also their bio. It was tedious work, but not completely uninteresting because I got to read all of the people's bios in the process which kept me interested. Next, I added more peoples names to Mailchimp trying to decipher the messy handwriting of many people. Most of the time I was successful, and with a little help, we got through them all. This didn't take too much time, so I started adding peoples names, address and member status into the database. I took my time on this because I kept getting nervous I would mess up the information. I eventually finished this, then went over them again, just to be sure I had put in the right information for the categories. I enjoyed doing this but also realized how precision is pretty important most of the time, especially on information like address', phone numbers, and dates. After I did some more surfing the web by looking at Amazon and other websites to find spotlights for when people are reading their work. It took some time to find some that weren't crazy expensive, but I found a few different models. It was hard to focus on ones that would stay within budget without getting a little carried away by the much fancier models. It felt like I was able to get a lot done today, which was nice because it a little bit made up for me not being here the last two weeks. I've had a really nice time getting to learn more about Writefest and what Writespace does and also all the different people they work with and have connections with.
