Josey - Internship Blog (8) 5/2/19
I went back to Writespace after just a week ready to get some more stuff done after the productive things I did last week. I started by updating some blogs on the website for Writefest. I went through and added all of the pictures and the text to make the blogs fit on the website. This didn't take too long, so after I finished these I started to fix a newsletter that was going out by picking colors. I had to choose colors for the border, header, body, and foot. This took me a while because a) I am not very good at matching things, and b) having something look nice is super important in drawing attention to it, if it's ugly people won't want to read it or look at is as much, and you also need to balance out the background colors so people can actually read the text that's on the page. So this took me a while as I tried to get everything just right, but after using adobe illustrator in design tech, I'm not terrible at putting in numbers on the color scale. So I spent some time on this trying to make it look the best I could to make it more appealing. After making it look pretty, I added a few workshops to the newsletter which was pretty quick just making sure everyone who was giving a workshop had the bio and description on there. I remember doing this before, so it was much easier the second time. The last thing I did was to create posters to put around the space at Writefest. I used pages to make them for free water bottles, and also a sign for when workshops are in progress so people aren't staring through the windows. I had never actually tried to make posters or anything like this before, but it was actually really fun once I've started. I was trying to make them as professional ish looking as possible. Although it was very different work than I was doing before, it was actually one of my favorite times I've gone. Although I did some traditionalish work by posting the blogs, I also got to be creative and pick colors for the newsletters and see the creative things that go into a business like Writespace.
