Josey - 6ft Press Blog (1) 9/18/19

I was a little nervous to go to my first day at 6ft press but since it was pouring rain I didn't end up actually going there, instead I got sent work at school. I wasn't really sure what to expect but I got sent some work and it ended up being quite a bit. First I went through and read the childrens books they had written there and that was actually very interesting because I saw what kind of writing they are doing, the styles and the illustration. After I had read the book I had to search for awards the books could qualify for, this could be as broad as best childrens book or as specific as best childrens book written by an African America Author. I had some trouble at first trying to figure out what awards to find, but eventually I found a few that I started to be able to apply to multiple of the books. It was very different than something I had ever done and I learned a lot more about what writing awards are out there. I had no idea there were so many and some of them were so specific. Although I was a little disappointed I didn't actually get to go to 6ft press I was still glad to get some work done and get an idea of what I might be doing in the future.
