Josey - 6ft (4) 10/23/19

I went back to 6ft press today and actually went to the building for the second time in total. I was excited to go back because last time I had gone I ended up having a very enjoyable first time. I got settled then learned about what I would be doing. I started by writing the address of all of the people who needed to receive a certain package. This all went on stickers and once I was done I organized all the books and put them into envelopes. The two books I was using were books that have not been published yet, but in a week or two they will be published, so for now they are being sent out to apply for awards and for book lists. Most of them were sent out to be considered for the rainbow book list, but I also had some that were to be considered for a certian award. Although it was not super difficult work, it still took some focus to make sure I didn't mess up any of the sames or spelling and to make sure everything was addressed to go to the correct place. I actually had a really good time seeing all of the different behind the scene things of how books are applied for lists before they are even published. I had no idea how books were put on lists, but after this I got a chance to see all the work that is put into applying for these books and lists.

Josey - Writespace (19) 2/27/20

This week I went back to Writespace after a couple weeks of not being able to go. When I first got there I started off with looking around online for small presses and publishing companies in Houston. This took some time, but I was trying to find companies that sort of fit the idea of Writespace and had the same sort of works published as people were writing there. So after some digging I found a few places around Austin, Dallas and some other cities and added them to my google sheet. Next I went into eventbrite and set up the emails to attendees for the workshops. These are importat becuase they remind people this event is upcoming and also give them an idea of what to expect from this workshop. Josey - 6ft (2) 9/25/19

Today was the day I actually went to 6ft press and did work from there. I arrived and met Mr. Voorhees who turns out is super nice and got a little tour of there space. The whole space is super nice with lots of room and three floors. We went into his office and I learned more about what his job was at 6ft press, who he worked with and I met a lot of people who worked with him. So we just talked for a while about what I was interested in and what I wanted to learn about while I was there then I started working on reading these twitter posts about Native Americans. He had this idea for a story about Native Americans who traveled to London and the Carribbean from Florida because of a twitter post he had seen. So I looked through all the posts and tried to find more links of articles about something along the lines of this. Josey - Writespace (18) 2/6/20

This week I went back to Writespace and started by updating a few things in Eventbrite. Something with the workshop ticket pricing had been off so I needed to fix this for a few of the workshops. This did ot take me too long and afterwards I moved on to the task that would take me the rest of my time there. This was also a job that needed to be done in Eventbrite but this was actually making new events to add onthe website. I have done this before a few weeks ago and so after I quick refresher I got back into the rhythm of it. I went through quite a few workshops including all of April, May and some of June. This taks is not very complicated but it takes paying attention to details to make sure you get all the dates right, the time right and the ciket pricing. Since there are lots of workshops to go through this took me the rest of the time I had at Writespace, but I was able to get some practice in using Eventbrite.
